The classroom for the most part has been transformed. It has moved away from simply chalk and talk and a walk to the park, to virtual reality. Tehnology in the classroom is a great asset. It impacts the delivery of information in a positive way. It enables the children to see beyond what is present in their physical environment. It enables the user to travel around the world, while still in their classroom.

Most schools do not have access to computer, hence the internet. The national syllabus should not be handed to teachers in the form of c.ds. While teachers should be resourceful, the cost of copying an entire syllabus should not be the responsibility of the teacher unless he or she chooses to have their personal syllabus.

Question 2: Access to the National syllabus should be free and easily available to every teacher. It is the most essential teaching tool yet many teachers are without copies due to lack of funds to travel to the education offices or to print copies.Even the Ministry knows that acess to computers, printers and other printing materials are very limited to educators and students alike. By what miracle are they supposing teachers can print the syllabus easily?

I believe technology literacy is important because in this era we find alot of our students are able to use modern technology for all sort of activity and are attracted to these aspect . We as teachers need to realize we need to get equip with what is going on in our world because we have become to be more dependent on technology for alot of things. So I believe we need to get with the norm.

Technological literacy is important in schools today. In order for teachers and students to keep up to date with the a changing world we need to be informed. Using techology is the best and fastest way to do so.

In today’s society, technology is rapidly changing the way we live. I strongly believe that technology literacy ensures that students are kept aware of what is taking place around them. Furthermore, I think that technology literacy should be avaliable to all children despite their background, race, social status etc.

I think technological literacy is important because it’s not like years gone by. We are in a technological age and we need to get with the changing times or you’ll find yourself behind. Because of this, reseach has become less strenous for students as they could readily access the required information. I do agree not all students will be able to access a computer but with the assistance of the government placing computers in schools, this will thus relieve some of the burden from parents.
In so doing, learning will be enhanced.

Technological literacy is very important for educators in the primary school system. We need to equip ourselves with latest technology available so that we can encourage and ensure that our students learn. What best way to do so than using the computer and internet! If we are literate to it , we can show them how this can be a learning and effective tool.

technological literacy is very important. First of all the teachers need to have the availabilty and the knowledge of technology to be able to correspond with the world at large and to be able to facilitate the responses to the concerns that our students may have. However one short coming to this is the access due to financial constraints. Most teachers are unable to make daily living with their small salaries and schools do not help to accomodate teachers with this. At our school we do have computers but they are used for teaching computer courses and not for us to use within our classrooms and accomodate for URLs.
Concerning the curriculum, it is imperative that our teachers have copies. Hard copies are not available to teachers and contrary to the believe of the ministry, that provides a CD, it does not assist the teacher who does not own a computer, or limits a teacher who has to visit the library to access the computer for the curriculum.
Though a lot is dependent on the teacher’s creativity, interest and motivation, I am of the opinion that the ministry needs to revisit the needs of the teachers, accomodate the schools and classrooms with the necessary tools.
I must say though that at our school we are given these tools but I have seen where the neglegence of some teachers loosing copies, has continued to create the problem of not having hard copies.

I believe that the access to the national curriculum should be free and should be given to all teachers. How can teachers execute if they are not given one. This is a priority and therefore it is the ministry’s responsiblity to ensure that the national curriculum is available to all teachers. These should be sent to schools. If teachers’ misplace or loose theirs, then it’s their responsibility to replace.

At my school I have access to both the hard copy and the CD with the National syllabus. It’s important to have it so that it is used in the planning process. This should be used as often as possible as how planning takes place. It should not be on a shelf in an office but on the hands of the teacher!

I believe that having access to the National curriculum is vital in preparing and planning. All teachers need to have this at their disposal.Last school I made sure my teachers had their own personal copies on cds. However access to technology is quite limited for us in our multigrade rural schools.

I have decided to introduce TRIBES in my school via my staff. My plan is to start slowly with inclusion since 80% of my staff will be “new” teachers to the profession.

Differentiated strategies is not new to us. As discussed before we have been trying new strategies in our classroom. From reading the articles i can identify that teachers need to be resourceful. Having an open mind, being flexible, willing to try new ideas and managing instructional time to meet students needs is important for the teachers wyou are willing to bring differentiated strategies into their classroom. At the risk of sounding trite, I believe that all teachers have these qualities. You would not be in the classroo without feeling that energized, and motivated interest to challenge and develop meaningful experiences in their students. I am eager to go home and sit and read more onthis strategy to help acquaint myself so as to prepare for the upcoming school year. Yay! Interesting read!

I have fallen in love with the concept of using TRIBES in the classroom. I do belive that there is great need for it my a staff level however, I am not sure that people will be welcome it. This year I plan to intigrate it into my lessons as much as possible. I do belive that using TRIBES is the way forward in our troubled society.

First of all,I must bear in mind that not all students are alike. Each student is unique as made by God therefore they must be treated as such. The teacher must have multiple options in order to assist student’s needs. The teacher must be flexible using strategies that are connected with individual’s student’s learning strategies. The final goal of such instructions is to have a learning environment that use to the fullest the potential for the student’s success.
