Yes I have used technology in my class to teach Social Studies lessons, such as in the topic of Maya Civilization, through using my laptop and projector to do a slide show. I also used the computer lab so my children can practise using search engines to research for information in Science , Social Studies, Language Arts, and so forth.
I have used technology for Science and social studies lessons. In science students used the internet to research and observe the Earth’s movement from a NASA website. They were both intrigued and delighted at what they found.
In social studies i was able to condense and make a concept map on the branches of belizes government. this presentation was done with the use of power-point. it kept student’s interest and eliminated poster-making.
Whenever i give research projects i provide students with websites i would like them to use for research. this eliminates misinformation and keeps them focused on what information it is i do want to receive.
I have not used much computer in my regular classes. I have done some power point presentations only. I have used audio visuals aid such as radio, TV,and CD players. I know that we need more computers in the individual classrooms!
